ArtWeek Berkshires 2022 Welcomes Submissions| 12:10PM / Tuesday, April 26, 2022 | |
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire County's five Cultural Districts are partnering again to expand ArtWeek Berkshires 2022 that will take place from Sept 15 to Sept 25. The coalition recently posted its first call for artists. The non-juried event is free to all Berkshire County individuals, organizations, and businesses interested in showcasing creative work. Submissions from actors, cartoonists, crafters, dancers, designers, filmmakers, illustrators, mimes, multimedia artists, musicians, performance artists, poets, puppeteers, theater artists, visual artists, writers are welcome.  GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. —Simon's Rock announced that the institution was awarded an Early College Full School Impact Planning Grant of $150,000 from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. "The purpose of this competitive grant is to provide significant planning and resources to support a district and/or high school and college partner in designing and developing an impactful, large scale, or "full school" immersive Early College program model." 'Frozen in Time' by Art Evans, one of two works on display. STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — There's still a week left to experience "Shimmer" at Berkshire Botanical Garden. Curated by Sue Muskat and Phil Knoll, it brings together drawings, paintings, prints, photographs, and sculptures from 38 artists in an attempt to encourage "being in the present" while also recording the condition of life. Each artwork and artist provides a different conversation to encourage viewers to be open to new perspectives and challenges the viewer to contemplate the complexities of light in the darkness.
