Great Barrington Fixed-Rate Power Supply Program Agreement

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The town has finalized a 12-month, fixed-price electricity supply agreement through its municipal power-purchasing program.    This fixed rate, lower than a planned National Grid increase, is being passed on to local residents and businesses who can choose to opt into the program.   According to a press release, many residents are already enrolled in this program and do not need to do anything to receive the new fixed supply price. Electricity customers not already enrolled may opt in by returning a postcard they will receive in the mail from Colonial Power Supply. Berkshire Libraries Fall Crawl

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — One dozen Berkshire county libraries are hosting The Berkshire Libraries Fall Crawl from October 17 to October 22, 2022.   All are welcome to explore the Berkshires by visiting public libraries across the county. Participants can pick up a passport at the first library they visit and then drive from library to library, collecting passport stamps and small prizes.   Participants are asked to take a photo of themselves at each library along the way and use the tag #BerkshireLibraryCrawl2022. Literacy Network of South Berkshire to Open Tutor Resource Center

The Literacy Network of South Berkshire (LitNet) announced the grand opening of the Susan Weintraub Tutor Resource Center at the LitNet headquarters on 32 Park St.   This new center will be a space for LitNet tutors and learners as well as the LitNet staff home base. A grand opening ceremony and gathering of Weintraub’s family, friends, and the LitNet staff and board will take place on Sunday, October 23 at 2 PM.    Susan Weintraub, who passed away on Feb. 19, 2022, was a longtime LitNet tutor and supporter as well as a board member for eleven years. STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Thirty-one people from 26 countries took the oath of citizenship at Naumkeag on Wednesday.

The new American citizens waved their flags with a smile and were congratulated by family, friends, and the community.

The annual naturalization ceremony held by the Berkshire Immigrant Center included immigrants living in Berkshire County and from throughout the state.

Great Barrington to Host Housatonic Water Works Information Meeting

Dream Away Lodge Reopening in 2023 Under New Ownership

BECKET, Mass. — The historic Dream Away Lodge is expected to reopen in the spring under new ownership.

It was announced on Sunday that former owner Daniel Osman sold the restaurant to The Dreamaway Lodge RE LLC.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Ralph Distoli and Bob Linn had the low gross score at Berkshire Hills Country Club in the inaugural Berkshire County Fall Seniors Golf event.   The pair carded a 62 on their home course to edge runners-up Matt Ortega and George Candelet, who finished at 65.   The event on Wednesday was the first of a five-week series for golfers 50 and up to raise funds to support Berkshire County Junior Golf.
