Literacy Network to host KidNet at the Norman Rockwell Museum

LEE, Mass. — Literacy Network (LitNet) will be holding a special event called KidNet for learners enrolled with its services and their families.   To be held at the Norman Rockwell Museum on Friday, April 19 from 10 am to 12 pm, during the regional public schools' April vacation, KidNet is a one-time event featuring children's songs by live musicians, multilingual story time with multiple readers, a literacy information session for parents, and a book giveaway. MassDOT: South County Road Work

BECKET, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing crews will be conducting daytime and overnight hour guardrail repair, drainage work, bridge repair, and tree trimming operations at various locations and times on I-90 eastbound and westbound during the week of Sunday, April 14.   Lane closures will be in place during the construction operations and traffic will be able to travel through the work zones.  The schedule for the work and lane closures will be as follows:    Otis/Blandford  Guardrail repair operations will be conducted nightly on I-90 westbound between mile marker 21.0 and mile marker 26.0 from Monday, April 15,

Monday, April 15, is Patriots Day, a state holiday marking the anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord that began the American Revolution. The day has been celebrated on the third Monday in April since 1969.

It was on the morning of April 20, 1775, that Paul Revere and other riders began the alert across and beyond Massachusetts Colony that troops were planning to advance from Boston to the towns of Lexington and Concord. They were to seize a cache of gunpowder and arms and capture revolutionaries Sam Adams and John Hancock.

(Local legend claims that Israel Bissell, later of Hinsdale, rode all the way to Philadelphia, but most historians dismiss it.)

Senior Golf Series Returns in September

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Berkshire County Fall Senior Golf series returns in September with events on five consecutive Wednesdays starting Sept. 18.   It is the 22nd year of the series, which is a fund-raiser for junior golf in the county, and it is open to players aged 50 and up.   The series will feature two divisions for each event based on the combined ages of the playing partners.   Golfers play from the white tees (or equivalent) with participants 70 and over or who have a handicap of more than 9 able to play from the forward tees.   Gross and net prices will be available in each division.   The cost is $55 per event and includes a round of golf, food and

BAV Launches Market Match Fund Campaign for 2024

Triplex Cinema, GBPT Fundraising Screening of 'Freud's Last Session'

Science and Art Program during April School Break
