The Orchestra Now Returns to Bard College at Simon's Rock

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Orchestra Now, the orchestra and master's degree program founded by Bard College president, conductor, educator, and music historian Leon Botstein, returns to Bard College at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington on Nov. 20 at 3 PM.    The free performance is led by assistant conductor Andrés Rivas and marks the Orchestra's fifth visit to Simon's Rock and the first one since 2017.   The concert opens with Ukrainian composer Fiodor Yakimenko's lyric poem dedicated to Rimsky-Korsakov; followed by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jacob Druckman's "Prism," and Ives' overture to his never-written opera

With cooler winter temperatures moving through the Berkshires this week,  some snowfall is predicted Wednesday, Nov. 16.   But today, Monday, Nov. 14, temperatures should stay in the low 40s with partly cloudy skies. Guild of Berkshire Artists Opening New Exhibit

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Guild of Berkshire Artists will be hosting its new exhibit "Color, Texture & Form" in their Art on Main gallery, located at  38 Main St, and will run for three Friday, Saturday, Sunday weekends.    The exhibit will open Saturday, Nov. 18, and feature work from three local artists specializing in different mediums and utilizing different views on color, texture, and form.    Artists Sarah Morrison, Sally Lebwohl and Margie Skaggs all focus on different mediums of art but all emphasized that sharing their work with fellow artists gives them the courage to try new things and look at their own work with a different

Simon's Rock Theater Program to Perform 'RIOT'

BRTA Services Free From Nov. 25 to Dec. 31

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) announced that beginning Nov. 25 through Dec. 31, 2022, all BRTA bus and paratransit services will be free through the state's "Try Transit" initiative.   This Try Transit initiative is supported through the state budget and awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Berkshire Organizations Partner to Launch New Website to Help Grant Seekers

Rollerskiers Tackle Mount Greylock

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. – Fin Bailey and Alexandra Lawson were the top finishers on Sunday at the Mount Greylock Hill Climb.   The rollerski race was conducted at Mount Greylock Reservation under the auspices of the New England Nordic Ski Association.   More than 100 athletes took on the challenge of racing to the top of the commonwealth’s highest peak.   Bailey and Lawson were the first finishers in the long course division for men and women respectively.   The long course ran for 8 miles from the visitor’s center to the top of the 3,500 foot mountain.   Bailey of Vermont’s Stratton Mountain School won the men’s race in 48 minutes, 59.4

STOW, Mass. —With the end of daylight savings time coming on Nov. 6, Massachusetts fire officials issued a seasonal reminder to check your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms and change the batteries when you change your clocks.   "Working smoke and CO alarms are crucial home safety tools," said State Fire Marshal Peter J. World Class Guitar Player Performs at McConnell Theater
