Eloise H. Brown, 69

DALTON, Mass. — Eloise H. Brown, 69, of 17 Washington Street, Dalton, died Monday, July 17, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center, surrounded by family.



Born in Boston on August 4, 1947, the daughter of Frank L. Henry, Sr. and Helen E. Roberts Henry, she was educated in Lanesborough schools, graduated from Mount Greylock Regional High School, and earned an associate degree in business from Berkshire Community College.



Mrs. Brown was employed by Ad-Lib Center for Independent Living for the past seven years, where she was a representative payee for clients. Mrs. Brown was a former member of the Hinsdale Lions Club and the Dalton Lions Club.



She was an avid gardener and bargain hunter, who also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and baking, as well as caring for animals of all kinds; she especially loved her cats and feeding the birds and squirrels.



Mrs. Brown is survived by two daughters, Wendy E. Brown and her husband Zack R. McCain III of Dalton and Rebecca L. de Forest and her husband Miles of Bahama, N.C.; a son, Lance M. Brown of Palmdale, Calif.; a brother, Frank L. Henry Jr. of Massachusetts; and four grandchildren, Cecily M. de Forest, Jacob R. de Forest, Madeline R. McCain and Zack R. McCain, IV.



Funeral notice: A memorial service for Eloise H. Brown will be held Monday, July 24, 2017, at 3:30 p.m., at First Congregational Church of Dalton with Rev. Linda Michel, Pastor, officiating. Reception to follow.



A private burial will be in Ashuelot Cemetery at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
