LENOX, Mass. — Richard D. Hines, 82, formerly of Hubbard Street, Lenox, Mass., passed away on January 5, 2018, at Mount Carmel Care Center.

Born January 17, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late John Doran and Ruth Delorme Hines. He graduated from of Becker Junior College in 1958, after serving in the US Army. 

Mr. Hines was an insurance underwriter. He worked for Berkshire Life for 19 years and then UNUM Insurance, where he retired from. He attended South Congregational Church and was a friend of Bill W.

He leaves his daughter, Amy McNally, and her son Jacob of Pittsfield; a son Timothy Hines and his partner Robert Moon of New York, N.Y.; and one brother. John Hines Jr. of Long Island. 

Mr. Hines was predeceased by his brother Robert Hines.

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Mr. Richard D. Hines will be held at South Congregational Church in Pittsfield on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joel Huntington officiating. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
