Evelyn Knight, 95

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Evelyn Edna Knight, 95, of Pittsfield, Mass., passed away May 25, 2018, at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she had resided for the past 3 1/2 years. 



Born in Pittsfield on January 31, 1923, the daughter of the late Loren and Flossie Beekman Hebler, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Evelyn married Edward C. Knight, Jr., and was predeceased by him on March 24, 1966. Primarily a homemaker, she worked previously at the Hilton Inn and also General Electric. 



Evelyn will be remembered for her quiet, caring and giving spirit. She was always there to help family, never expecting anything in return. She was hardworking and independent, and loved animals and babies. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles, as well as knitting, crocheting and reading.



She will be sadly missed by her family. She leaves behind two sons, James E. Knight and his wife Kathleen of Windsor and Richard C. Knight of Pittsfield; a daughter Deborah A. Adelson and her husband Mark of Pittsfield; her sister Beverly Lambert of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, Deborah Knight, Heather Slade, Sandra Knight, James Knight, Mark Knight, Amy DuPont, David DuPont; and eight great-grandchildren, Lauren Combs, Allena Combs, Cameron Combs, Andrew DuPont, Ben Saunders, Matthew Norton, Holly Slade and Cindy Slade. 



She was predeceased by a son, Stephen Knight in 2013; an infant daughter Kathleen; as well as five brothers and four sisters. 



The family would like to thank the staff at Mt. Greylock for their exceptional care and compassion. 



Funeral notice: A graveside funeral service for Evelyn E. Knight will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery in Pittsfield, with Rev. Peter A. Gregory officiating. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
