Sophie Almori, 81, of 256 State Road died Thursday at Laurel Lake Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Housatonic on June 25, 1924, daughter of Paul and Alice Baldyga Krzynowek, she was a 1941 graduate of the former Searles High School.
Mrs. Almori owned the former Village Variety Shop in Housatonic during the 1960s.
She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church.
Her husband, Remegio L. Almori, whom she married June 20, 1945, died Feb. 2, 1999.
She leaves two daughters, Elaine M. Chatham of Jackson, Miss., and Barbara J. Enberg of La Jolla, Calif.; two sisters, Alice Magdalenski and Sadie Kirkbride, both of Housatonic, and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Sophie Almori, who died Thursday, May 11, 2006, will be celebrated today at 1 at St. Peter's Church by the Rev. Shaun O'Connor, MIC, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME today from noon to 12:45. Expressions of sympathy in Sophie's memory may be made to the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
She also leaves sons-in-law Henry Chatham and Dick Enberg, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and Stephen Krzynowek.
