Hilary Greene has stepped down from her position as director of the Berkshire Immigrant Center.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Hilary Greene has stepped down from her position as director of the Berkshire Immigrant Center to pursue time off and perhaps new opportunities.

Greene will be remaining at the center as a case worker, representing clients through this transitional period and until the center can hire additional staff. Brooke Mead, who has been BIC for 15 years, for many of them the center's only full-time staff member, will step into the role of director. Ben Fish is one of two new case workers also being hired.

Although all at the Berkshire Immigrant Center are saddened by her departure, we are so grateful for her wonderful leadership and years of service to our community," Ethan Klepetar, chairman of the BIC Advisory Board, said.

Since 1999, Greene has played a critical role at the Berkshire Immigrant Center in support of thousands of clients who have benefited from her dedication, knowledge and skillful guidance. Under her direction the center has become a vital force for the county's growing immigrant and refugee population. Despite many challenges and a small budget, Greene has managed to not only help the center to survive, but thrive, Klepetar said.

"Those of you who are lucky enough to know Hilary are aware of the countless hours she and her family have volunteered bringing furniture, clothing and goodwill to the clients she tirelessly welcomed," he said. "Although she is leaving the center at an exciting moment of growth and opportunity, her presence will be missed."

Prior to working at BIC, Greene spent several years working in public relations in St. Petersburg, Russia, followed by a job as Program Manager of The National Young Composers Competition at Williams College. She has been the award-winning head cross country ski coach and a running coach at Mt. Greylock Regional High School since 1998, where she will continue to impact the lives of countless young people.

"BIC turns 20 this year. As we look forward to the next 20 years of great service to the community, we will always remember Hilary’s role in shaping this organization," Klepetar said. "All of us at BIC will miss Hilary's thoughtfulness, professionalism, empathy and strength. She has been amazing! Although it is very difficult to say goodbye, we respect Hilary's decision and wish her the very best in her future endeavors -- we know she will be successful no matter what she pursues."
