More than 170 runners took part in the annual Berkshire Healthcare Harvest Run to benefit the Berkshire Community College nursing program.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Healthcare Harvest Run raised more than $15,000 for the Berkshire Community College nursing program scholarship on Oct. 21 during the annual trail run and cook-off. More than 170 runners, including adults, students and children, participated in the trail run, relay and kids race.

"This was our most successful Harvest Run. We are very grateful to all the participants and the Berkshire Healthcare affiliates for their energy and enthusiasm," said Ellen Kennedy, president of Berkshire Community College. "Showcasing the excellent creative and culinary skills of the Berkshire Healthcare affiliates, who shared the fruits of their labors with the spectators and runners, made the event even more memorable."

"I want to thank all those involved in the Harvest Run," added Bill Jones, president of Berkshire Healthcare Systems. "Our sponsors, the runners, our affiliates and staff who organized the event have our gratitude. We look forward to next year's run."

The event featured a 1950s-themed cook-off competition by six affiliates of Berkshire Healthcare. North Adams Commons took top honors for the decorating contest ("Marty's Diner"), the cook-off, and the first-ever People's Choice Award.

The Harvest Run's lead sponsor was TD Bank; other main sponsors were David H. Dunlap & Associates and The Roche Associates, Inc.

Additional sponsor support came from the Berkshire Eagle, Berkshire Healthcare, Balance Rock Investment Group, Bill Johnson Social Work Consulting, The Pittsfield Co-op Bank, Triad Advertising, and Aladco. Also supporting the event were Crescent Creamery, Dr. Michael Fabrizio, Greylock Federal Credit Union, H. J. Sims, MacFarlane Office Products, Massachusetts Senior Care Association, Pittsfield Pipers, Qualprint and Compuworks.
