Town Hall Update
September 25, 2020
  • Elderly and disabled transportation update: As you may be aware the Southern Berkshire Elderly Transportation will be closing its doors on September 30th.  While Monterey works with Gt. Barrington to find a long term solution, the Town of Sheffield has graciously offered to transport any elderly or disabled Monterey residents that need transportation to doctor appointments or grocery trips.  Beginning October 1st, if you are in need of transportation please call the Sheffield Senior Center 48 hours prior to your appointment at 229-7037.  Their van operates Monday - Friday 9am - 4pm and the cost is $10 per rider, round trip.
  • From the highway department:  Sandisfield Rd will be down to one lane of traffic starting Monday, September 28th - Friday, October 2nd.  Police Officers will be on duty to facilitate traffic.  Expect delays, please plan ahead.
  • The swap shack will be closed on Wednesday, September 30th.
  • Town of Monterey recycling bins are available for purchase that the transfer station.  Only $5, see Beth or Dave to get yours.
  • The Town Hall offices continues to be open by appointment only, we have installed a doorbell to use to announce your arrival.  It is strongly suggested that members of the public make an appointment with the department they need to see.  Everyone (public included) must wear a face covering when conducting business if unable to maintain a 6 foot distance, unless there is a medical reason not to.  All entering building must sanitize hands upon entering and exiting the building.  Hand sanitizer is stationed throughout the building.  Entry will be limited to 5 members of the public at a time.  The offices to be staffed full time are the Administrative Assistant and Police Department.  All other offices will be staffed part time.  In an effort to avoid face to face meetings, online or telephone meetings can be scheduled. By determination of the Attorney General all members of the public must attend meetings remotely by phone or computer.
  • The Administrative Assistant's office will be closed September 28 - 30.
We thank you for your continued cooperation, understanding and patience during this difficult time. Up-to-date COVID-19 information will be posted on the Town's website: www.montereyma.gov under the Board of Health page.
