GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. —On Friday, Nov. 4, guitar player Jason Vieaux will offer a varied recital of solo guitar music at the McConnell Theater, Daniel Arts Center, at Bard College at Simon's Rock on the South Berkshire Concert Series.
The performance will begin at 7:30 pm and admission is free; mask-wearing is required.
The program will include arrangements of works by Bach and Scarlatti, as well as original guitar compositions by Leo Brouwer, Augustin Barrios, Jorge Morel, and Vieaux. In 1992, at 19 years of age, Jason Vieaux won First Prize of the Guitar Foundation of America's International Competition, the youngest person to do so. In 2011, he co-founded with David Starobin the guitar department of Curtis Institute. His solo guitar album "Play" won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Solo Album. He has recorded eight albums of solo guitar music, as well as seven of chamber music and has guest appearances on seven others.
