Mahaiwe to screen Disney's 'Up' in Spanish

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center will screen Disney's "Up" from 2009, in Spanish with English subtitles, on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.   Attendance is free but registration is required.   Visit mahaiwe.org or call or visit the Box Office, 413-528-0100, during open hours — Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.   The film is coordinated in part by the Mahaiwe's Spanish-language Community Advisory Network (SCAN). Berkshire Communities Get Culvert Replacement Grants

BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll Administration  announced over $6.4 million in grants to strengthen community preparedness for large storms, improve climate-ready infrastructure, restore flood storage capacities, and protect fisheries, wildlife, and river habitat.   The Culvert Replacement Municipal Assistance (CRMA) Grant Program is one of the many resources the administration utilizes to help municipalities replace undersized and deteriorating culverts with crossings that meet improved design standards. The grants target culverts whose replacement brings significant ecological and resilience benefits and helps municipalities deal with the increasing aging road infrastructure

2023 Book One Lecture At Simon's Rock

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. —Simon's Rock welcomes novelist, memoirist, illustrator, and cultural critic Mira Jacob for a talk reflecting on her award-winning graphic memoir and this year's Book One selection, "Good Talk: A Memoir in Conversations" at the end of the month.   The lecture and Q&A will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. in the McConnell Theater on the Simon's Rock campus. South County Overnight Construction

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced that crews will be conducting overnight hour pavement marking, slope repair, guardrail, and bridge repair operations on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Lee, Becket, West Stockbridge and Stockbridge.    The work will be conducted at various times and locations from Monday, Aug. 21, through Friday, Aug. 25. This week, Tanglewood concludes its magnificently curated, presented and performed 2023 classical music summer festival season with panache by showcasing two live film concert blockbusters: "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" on Saturday evening, Aug. 26, and on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 27, John Williams' "Star Wars: The Story in Music" – both performed by the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra under the direction of conductor Keith Lockhart. Thunder Three-Peat, Kraken Win Title in Debut Season in BABL

A back-and-forth championship series in the Berkshire Adult Baseball League’s 20-and-over division swung toward the Kraken on a big third-inning swing.   In the 33-and-over division, the league’s best team continued to show why they earned that title by holding on late to take a 3-2 win and a series sweep.   Seamus Morrison struck out five on Sunday morning in Dalton to lead the Berkshire Thunder to a 3-2 win over Tunnel City Freight as the Thunder finished the spring/summer season with a record of 18-0 and the program’s third straight BABL title.   At Hoosac Valley High School, a three-run bomb by Corey Meczywor propelled  the Northern Berkshire Kraken
