Great Barrington Announces Personnel Changes

Great Barrington, Mass. — Josh Risen has been promoted to the position of Great Barrington town clerk, one of several new appointments in Town Hall.    Risen joined the town in September 2023 as office administrator for the town manager and selectboard, after working in administrative roles in the town of Sheffield. He earned a law degree from Western New England University Law School and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 2011. As Town Clerk, Risen will serve as the town's chief election officer and maintain and preserve the town's archives and vital records, among other roles.   "I'm very much looking forward to working with Josh in his capacity

CHP Van To Visit West Stockbridge

A Thousand Flock to Designer Showcase Fundraiser at Cassilis Farm

NEW MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — More than a thousand visitors toured the decked-out halls of Cassilis Farm last month in support of the affordable housing development.

Construct Inc. held its first Designer Showcase exhibition in the Gilded Age estate throughout June, showcasing over a dozen creatives' work through temporary room transformations themed to "Nature in the Berkshires."  The event supported the nonprofit's effort to convert the property into 11 affordable housing units.

MassDOT: South County Road Work

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing crews will be conducting nighttime and daytime paving, guardrail work, and bridge repair operations at various locations and times on I-90 eastbound and westbound during the week of Monday, July 15.

Lane closures will be in place during the construction operations, and traffic will be able to travel through the work zones. The schedule for the work and lane closures is as follows:

State Awards $1.25M To Cooper Hill Farm Project

Lenox Library Celebrates Significant Historic Document

LENOX, Mass. — The Lenox Library announced a special event to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Lenox Non-Importation Agreement.    This historic document, signed by 111 Lenox residents in 1774, marked a moment in America's path to independence. The celebration will take place on July 13th, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Sedgwick Reading Room at the Library.   According to a press release, seven years after its incorporation, the Town of Lenox sent six delegates to a Berkshire Congress held in Stockbridge. West Stockbridge Marks 250th Anniversary of Founding

WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The town marked 250 years as a tight-knit community on Saturday with food, music, history lessons, and many smiles.

In 1774, the General Court in Boston passed an act to establish the Town of West Stockbridge after five years of effort and its first town meeting was held on July 4 of that year. State and local officials gathered in front of Town Hall on Saturday to kick off a day of bicenquinquagenary celebrations hosted by the West Stockbridge Historical Society.
