South County Construction Operations

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced that crews will be conducting daytime and overnight hour pavement milling, slope stabilization, bridge and drainage repair operations on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Becket, Otis, Lee, and Blandford.     The work will be conducted at various times and locations from Monday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 6.    Lane closures will be in place during the construction operations and traffic will be able to travel through the work zones.  The schedule for the work and lane closures will be as follows:    Becket Bridge repair operations will be conducted daily on I-90

Lenox Library Annual Book Sale

LENOX, Mass. — The Lenox Library Association's two-day annual book sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8 at the Lenox Town Hall from 9am to 5pm.    The event is free from noon to 5pm on Saturday and all day on Sunday. The public is welcome to preview the collection on Saturday from 9am to noon for a $10 donation: preview admission numbers will be given out starting at 8am.   The 28th annual book sale is one of the Lenox Library Association's primary fundraisers. Staffed and organized by volunteers throughout the year, all proceeds from the book sale benefit the Lenox Library Association's support for the library's programs, services

Great Barrington Awarded Second Grant for Lake Mansfield Area Improvements

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The town has been awarded a second MVP climate resilience grant to implement improvements at the Lake Mansfield Recreation Area improvements.   This year's award of $709,720 is also from the Commonwealth's Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program, administered by the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA). These competitive grants support communities implementing priority actions to adapt to climate change and build climate resilience.   Great Barrington's Lake Mansfield project is one of 79 projects to have received action grant funding in the latest round of applications.
