CHP Readying for New Covid-19 Vaccine Supply

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — With a second mobile medical van now on the road, CHP Berkshires' mobile health teams are preparing to reach more Berkshire residents in more locations this fall with vaccines for flu, Covid-19 and, for eligible patients, the respiratory virus (RSV) vaccine.    CHP anticipates receiving its Covid-19 vaccines in the coming weeks, while flu clinics are well under way.    "We are fielding many calls and inquiries about the new Covid-19 vaccine, and we are as eager as everyone to get this new vaccine on the road," said Melanie Wickwire, mobile health manager at CHP.     Once available, Covid-19 vaccines will be

Harrington Earns League Honor at Stonehill College

Pittsfield High School graduate Kellie Harrington last week was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for her performance as a first-year harrier at Stonehill College.   Harrington placed 21st and helped the Skyhawks finish second as a team at her first collegiate race, a 5-kilometer event at the 41-team UMass Dartmouth Invitational.   Harrington and her Stonehill teammates compete this week at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.   In Colchester, Vt., on Friday, Abby Kittler (Pittsfield) and the St. Michael's cross country team hosted what is believed to be the only same-distance men's and women's event in the country, second annual the Equality

Lee Schools Seek Info on Water Bead Shooting

LEE, Mass. — School officials say members of the Lee High cross-country team were targeted by someone with an airsoft gun on Monday. And they're asking for help in identifying the culprit.    "This afternoon a very upsetting incident occurred," Superintendent Gregg Brighenti wrote in an email to parents late Monday night. Berkshires Receive National Health Emergency Dislocated Worker Grant

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — To help address the crisis, the U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of more than $1 million in funding for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development to address the impact of the opioid crisis on the local workforce in Berkshire County.   Administered by the department's Employment and Training Administration, the National Health Emergency Dislocated Worker Grant will support Massachusetts in its efforts to employ people in positions as recovery coaches, harm reduction specialists, peer navigators and community health workers. LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced crews will conduct daytime and overnight hour pavement milling, slope stabilization, bridge and drainage repair operations on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Becket, Otis, Lee, and Blandford.     The work will be conducted at various times and locations from Monday, Sept. 25, through Friday, Sept. 29.    Lane closures will be in place during the construction operations and traffic will be able to travel through the work zones.  The schedule for the work and lane closures will be as follows:    Becket Bridge repair operations will be conducted daily on I-90 eastbound
