Construct Closes on Windflower Inn to Expand Workforce Housing

Remains Positively Identified as Missing New York Teacher

LEE, Mass. — Remains found in Lee in September have been positively identified as missing New York State teacher Meghan Marohn.    The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston released the findings on Tuesday but was unable to determine cause and manner of death because of the condition of the remains.   Marohn was identified through dental records and a forensic anthropological examination that showed the remains are the same sex, ancestry, and stature of Marohn. The examination did not reveal any signs of pre-death trauma. The office's toxicology testing revealed the presence of THC and organic products of decomposition. The office could not determine a

STOW—The Baker-Polito Administration announced $5 million in grant awards to 308 fire departments from the FY23 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program.   In Berkshire County Adams, Dalton, Great Barrington, Lanesborough, Lee, Lenox, New Ashford, New Marlborough, North Adams, Peru, Pittsfield, Richmond, Sheffield, Stockbridge, and Williamstown all received grants.   "We ask so much of our firefighters, and no matter how dangerous or difficult the situation, they always do whatever it takes to help," said Governor Charlie Baker. GB Distributes $350K in Community Impact Fees

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Town is distributing $350,000 in Community Impact Fees to five community-based organizations.   The awardee organizations are: Berkshire Hills Regional School District $185,000 Railroad Street Youth Project $110,000 Volunteers in Medicine $25,000 Community Legal Aid $10,000 Rural Recovery Resources $20,000.   The funds came from Community Impact Fees collected in 2021,which are collected from cannabis-related businesses operating in town.     The awardees were selected based on recommendations from the town's Community Impact Fund Committee.   Town Manager Mark Pruhenski extended his thanks to the group's
