 Halloween falls on a Friday this year. Some communities may hold their trick-or-treating hours during the weekend, or hold events ahead of the holiday. Check back as the holiday approaches for what your town is doing. If you are going door-to-door, remember to dress appropriately, carry a flashlight and only visit homes with lights on in your neighborhood. Below is a list of towns holding trick-or-treat hours on Halloween, unless otherwise noted. Those towns that are crossed out are dates from last year that have not been updated. Berkshire Farms, Organizations Awarded Food Security Grants10:40AM / Wednesday, October 22, 2025 | | GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire Bounty and Maple Shade Farms were both awarded Food Security Infrastructure Grants (FSIG) to address food insecurity. The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced over $22 million in grants to support 113 local food producers and food system organizations, in addressing food insecurity in Massachusetts. These funds will help strengthen Massachusetts' food production and distribution sectors, which will allow residents more access to fresh, locally grown and produced food. West Stockbridge Chamber Players Harvest Concert08:22AM / Wednesday, October 22, 2025 | |
 WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Featuring the West Stockbridge Chamber Players' artistic director and clarinetist Catherine Hudgins, violinist Sheila Fiekowsky, violinist Akiko Tarumoto, violist Daniel Getz, and cellist Christine Lee, the program will include Hugo Wolf's Italian Serenade (1887), Samuel Barber's String Quartet in B minor, Op. 11 (1935-36), and Paul Ben-Haim's Clarinet Quintet, Op.31a (1941 rev. 1965). The concert will be held on Oct. 26 at Old Town Hall at 3 pm. These concerts, which benefit the West Stockbridge Historical Society, routinely sell out.  PITTSFIELD, Mass.— Almost ten "No Kings" rallies will take place around Berkshire County on Saturday to oppose actions taken by the Trump Administration. On Wednesday, organizers gathered in front of the Silvio O. Conte Federal Building to discuss why they will be protesting. Community members said they were concerned about Immigration and Customs Enforcement's deployment into cities, threats to health insurance and education, and preserving the nation's civil rights, among other issues. MT. WASHINGTON, Mass. — The Becker Pond Dam is slated for removal after almost a decade of work from The Nature Conservancy (TNC). "We've been working on this dam removal for seven years, and are very excited that we're about to start construction in November," said Karen Lombard, The Nature Conservancy's (TNC) Director of Stewardship and Restoration. The dam has been closed since 2016 after TNC recognized it as a hazard to the public. The dam is located on TNC’s 1,500-acre Mount Plantain Reserve. "We were doing some routine monitoring of the Preserve, as we do every year in 2016 and we discovered that the dam was failing and could be a hazard.
