Mount Everett Artists Featured in Exhibit

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Seven student artists from Mount Everett Regional School were selected to have their artwork featured in the "How Shall We Live" exhibit at the Berkshire Art Center.   Students created their artwork as a response to the climate crisis, presented by Living the Change Berkshires, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to address climate change and climate justice with urgency, creativity, hope, and optimism on a local level.    The student artwork will be displayed on Friday, Aug. 4, for First Friday in Pittsfield, until Wednesday, Aug. 30.   "We have some very talented students at Mount Everett who have spent time researching the

W.E.B. Du Bois Sculpture Project Selects Artist

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The W.E.B. Du Bois Sculpture Project has selected artist Richard Blake to create a monument to W.E.B. Du Bois that will be placed in front of the town's Mason Public Library.   Blake was one of three finalists who presented models of their proposed statues to the Sculpture Project jury. The models were displayed to the public at the Mason Library in Great Barrington and at the Berkshire Athenaeum in Pittsfield.   "All three of our applicants were talented, highly regarded sculptors, each with a unique vision of Du Bois," said jury leader and board member Lauren Clark, a gallerist. Fairview Hospital Receives Recognition for Quality Patient Care and Experience

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Fairview Hospital, a Critical Access Hospital and an affiliate of Berkshire Health Systems, has been awarded a five-star rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for quality patient care.   The overall rating, between one and five stars, provides consumers with a summary of a hospital's overall quality performance averaged into a single summary score, with five-stars being the highest rating. Berkshire Bounty to Crowdfund to Address Community Need

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire Bounty, a 501(c)3 food rescue organization, will be conducting a crowdfunding campaign Aug. 16 to 22 to address an urgent community need.    The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts (FBWM) will be moving their facilities from Hatfield to Chicopee at the end of August, preventing them from making deliveries Aug. 28 to Sept. 6.   "This is a move that will help the region, and there's simply no way to manage it without shutting down temporarily," said Morgan Ovitsky, Executive Director of Berkshire Bounty. South County Paving and Guard Rail Repairs

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing crews will be conducting daytime and overnight hour paving operations and guardrail repairs on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Lee, Becket, West Stockbridge and Stockbridge.

The work will be conducted at various times and locations from 7:00 p.m., Monday, Aug. 7, through 5:00 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11.

Lane closures will be in place during repair operations and traffic will be able to travel through the work zones. The schedule for the work and lane closures will be as follows:

Tenth Year of Berkshire Pottery Tour
