Stockbridge Grange Community Dinner

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. Stockbridge Grange is having a community dinner Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, featuring roast pork, mashed potato, vegetable, bread, and dessert choices of chocolate cream or apple pie.

 

Dinner is $17.00 per person. Take out meals can be picked up starting at noon. Sit down meal will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Stockbridge Grange Hall at 51 Church Street, Stockbridge, MA.

BRPC Completes Rehab Work on 14 Sheffield Homes

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) announced a total of 14 homes in Sheffield have been successfully rehabilitated through the Housing Rehabilitation Program administered by BRPC on behalf of the Town of Sheffield.   The $807,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application was submitted to the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) in the spring of 2023 and the program wrapped up on Sept. 30, 2025.   Of the 14 homes, the household sizes ranged from one to six people while ages ranged from one year old to 94 years old. Each household had to meet the definition of low- to moderate-income as defined for Berkshire

Berkshire South to Provide Weekly Free Community Suppers

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire South Regional Community Center is expanding the free Community Supper program, in time to support those losing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds in November.    This increase is the result of over a year of dedicated planning and fundraising to strengthen food security efforts and to expand access to nutritious meals for all. Bidwell House Concert: What a Glorious Crash They Made

MONTEREY, Mass. — Join the Bidwell House Museum for a candlelight program with musician and historian R. Franklin Donohue.   The concert will be held on Nov. 7, at 5 p.m.   While playing the harpsichord and dressed for the 18th century, Donohue will play a selection of songs that were published and performed in New England between 1765 and 1783. MassDOT: South County Daytime and Overnight Construction Operations on I-90 Eastbound and Westbound

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. —  The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing daytime and overnight bridge work, bridge painting, crack sealing, and associated lane closures on I-90 eastbound and westbound in the towns of Stockbridge, West Stockbridge, Lee, Becket, Montgomery, and Russell.

All work is weather dependent and will take place at the following locations and times:

Lee/Becket:

Bridge work will be conducted on I-90 eastbound from mile marker 8.3 to mile marker 15.9 on Monday, November 3, and Tuesday, November 4, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Berkshire Natural Resources Council Awarded Conservation Partnership Grant

BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced over $12 million in grants for projects in 40 communities across Massachusetts that will help protect open space, build parks and give more people access to the outdoors.   The funding will support projects like creating new walking trails, protecting forests and wetlands, building neighborhood parks and preserving land near rivers and lakes that provide drinking water.     In Berkshire County, Berkshire Natural Resources Council was awarded $288,500 for the Depot Brook Corridor Project.   The project is within a half mile of the Appalachian Trail and is a focal area of the Resilient and Connected Network.

Mass. — The Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires (NPC) has published a 10th anniversary edition of its Giving Back guide.   The 80-page, glossy publication can be found in libraries, town halls, coffee shops, and other public spaces. Rabies Scare Shuts Down Nonprofit Riding Program

EGREMONT, Mass. — Blue Rider Stables has been in quarantine for weeks after a rabid skunk wandered onto the farm and bit one of the horses.    The incident has left the nonprofit organization with no income until December.    "We have a full time staff, we have payroll. We have vet bills. Swatting Incident Forces Berkshire School Lockdown

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire School was placed on lockdown on Monday following a suspected swatting incident.    At 1:29 p.m., the Police Department received a call on the nonemergency line reporting someone had called the school threatening to shoot it up.    The department called mutual aid from State Police and Great Barrington, Egremont, and New Marlborough police.
