Bidwell House Museum to Host Online Discussion on Historical Interpretation

MONTEREY, Mass. — The Bidwell House Museum will present an online lecture titled "Creating History: The Art of First Person Interpretations" on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom.

The program will explore the process behind historical reenactments, particularly in relation to the museum's living history events. Past participants in the Bidwell House Museum's American Revolution reenactments will discuss their approaches to historical interpretation, their interest in history, and their preparation for such events.

Monday, April 21, is Patriots Day, a state holiday marking the anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord that began the American Revolution. The day has been celebrated on the third Monday in April since 1969.

Lee Celebrates Kickoff of New Public Safety Building with Demo

LEE, Mass. — Town officials celebrated the start of a new public safety building on Tuesday by demolishing the Airoldi building and former Department of Public Works building.

"We're starting to take down the Airoldi building, which served as a municipal office building for the last few decades, we've had Tri-Town Health here some of our state representatives had have offices here, the DPW, we've had elections in this building and also was a former ambulance garage," Town Administrator Christopher Brittain said. "So, it served a number of purposes over the years."

End of an Era: Otis Poultry Farm Closes After 121 Years

OTIS, Mass. — Sunday is the last day to purchase products from Otis Poultry Farm.    The farm is closing at 5 p.m. after 121 years of operation.   Owner Andy Pyenson and his wife, Lynn, had announced the farm's closure on its Facebook page April 1, saying the family-owned business had proudly served the community and "from our family to yours, thank you for your unwavering support over the generations."   The property has been for sale for about 12 years, and was almost bought in 2022 to become a cannabis store but the deal fell through.   Pyenson still hopes a buyer will come forward.   "A lot of people come in and look but nobody

Construction Scheduled on I-90 Eastbound and Westbound in West Stockbridge and Blandford

WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced several construction operations scheduled for I-90 eastbound and westbound in West Stockbridge and Blandford from Monday, April 14, through Friday, April 18.

The work will involve bridge painting and repair, tree trimming, and guardrail maintenance, and will necessitate lane closures at various times and locations.

In West Stockbridge, bridge painting will take place on both eastbound and westbound I-90 at mile marker 1.3. Lane closures will be in effect daily from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bridge repair work is scheduled for eastbound I-90 between mile markers 2.0 and 3.0, with lane

Berkshire LGBTQ+ Pride Art Exhibit to Showcase Local Artists

BECKET, Mass. — A coalition of local organizations, including the Becket Arts Center, Q-MoB, and the Berkshire Queer History Project, will host the inaugural Berkshire LGBTQ+ Pride Art Exhibit.    The exhibit, showcasing local LGBTQ+ artists, will be held at the Becket Arts Center from June 12 to July 6, 2025.   Local LGBTQ+ artists are invited to submit their work for consideration by April 30, 2025.   A jury will select the artwork for the exhibit. State Senate to Commission Bust of Elizabeth Freeman

MassDOT: Temporary Detour in Alford, Egremont, Great Barrington

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing a temporary detour of Route 23 westbound traffic at the New York state line, as a result of a closure of Route 23 in Hillsdale, NY.    This closure is required for the New York Department of Transportation to complete culvert work.   Traffic seeking to access New York via Route 23 westbound will be detoured via Route 71 westbound in Alford, Egremont, and Great Barrington, and will continue to Route 22 southbound.   The road closure and detour are expected to remain in place through Friday, June 27.   Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide
