Lenox and Stockbridge Exploring Expanded Pedestrian and Bicycle Network

LENOX, Mass. – The towns of Lenox and Stockbridge invite residents and neighbors to learn more about recent planning efforts to improve walking and cycling connections around the area of Tanglewood and nearby institutions.

Stakeholders in the two towns have been working with Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) and its technical consultant, BETA Group, Inc., to explore what an expanded pedestrian and bicycle network could look like in the vicinity of Route 183, Hawthorne Road, Hawthorne Street, and Old Stockbridge Road.

MassDOT: Becket, Lee Tree Trimming on I-90 Westbound

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing tree trimming operations on I-90 westbound from mile marker 15 to mile marker 14.2 in Becket and Lee.    The work will take place from Tuesday, September 16, through Friday, September 19, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.   Drivers traveling through these areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.    Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work areas.    All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.

BCC Volleyball Team Takes First Win

BOSTON, Mass. – Taconic High graduate Jenyka Ostellino pulled a team-high 12 digs Saturday as the Berkshire Community College women’s volleyball team defeated Roxbury Community College in three sets.   Taconic’s Jasmin Aslan had a team-high four kills and Karen Amichiia led the way with seven aces for BCC in the 25-10, 27-25, 25-11 win.   BCC (1-1) is home on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Bristol Community College.

Triplex International Youth Film Festival

'Fodder: Stories from the Fields' Brings Farm Stories to Life

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — "Fodder: Stories from the Fields," an event celebrating the joys, challenges, and unexpected moments of agricultural life in the Berkshires, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 21, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Adult Hockey Tournament to Benefit Berkshire Humane Society

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The annual Berkshire Charity Draft Tournament is set to take place Sept. 13 and 14 at the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink.   The event will bring together hockey enthusiasts and local community members to raise funds for the Berkshire Humane Society, a local animal shelter dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals in need.   The tournament will showcase the talent and sportsmanship of participating teams. Berkshires Natural Resources Council Awarded Appalachian Grant

BOSTON — More than 17,000 acres of land will be protected this year after The Nature Conservancy’s Resilient and Connected Appalachian Grants Program provided up to $100,000 in grant funding to support projects that create a connected network of healthy lands and waters across 18 states in the Appalachians region from Maine to Alabama.   One of the projects that won funding is in Washington. There, the Berkshires Natural Resources Council is working on the Depot Brook Corridor Project, located within a half mile of the Appalachian Trail to add to wildlife and climate resiliency.
