Great Barrington Earth Day Collection Bag Pickup

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — residents can pick up their Earth Day trash collection bags starting Monday, April 17, at locations around town.   The town-wide Earth Day clean-up is Saturday, April 22, and town residents are encouraged to pitch in with a town-wide clean-up.   Collection bags can be filled with roadside trash and left for pickup by the town. Residents are asked to sign up here so the town knows where to pick up bags.   The town will make collection bags available starting April 17 at the following locations: Claire Teague Senior Center Great Barrington Town Hall Great Barrington Police Department Great Barrington Fire Department Mason

MassDOT: Paving in Lee, Becket

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced it will be conducting pavement marking operations and bridge, guardrail and drainage repair work on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Lee, Montgomery, Russell and Becket.    The scheduled work will require temporary lane and shoulder closures, and is scheduled to take place as follows:   Lee Drainage repair operations will be conducted daily on I-90 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 10 from Tuesday, April 18, through Friday, April 21, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.   Bridge repair operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 8.3 from Tuesday, April

CHP Free Pediatric Bivalent Boosters for Children

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Community Health Programs (CHP) Berkshires Mobile Health team now offers the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric bivalent booster shots for children 6 months through age 4.    These boosters are free.   CHP Mobile Health clinics are held at multiple locations each week around Berkshire County, and the schedule can be found at chpberkshires.org/mobile. These booster shots are free.   The Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent pediatric booster shots are available to children who received three Pfizer-BioNTech primary Covid-19 vaccines of the monovalent type. Children who are at least two months beyond their third monovalent primary vaccine are also eligible.

Berkshire Schools Get Innovation Career Pathways Designation

Healey  announced that her administration is awarding new Innovation Career Pathway designations to 27 high schools across the state, expanding the program by more than 30 percent to reach a total of 78 high schools in the state.    In Berkshire County, this includes: Hoosac Valley Regional High School – Environmental and Life Sciences; Healthcare and Social Assistance  Mt. Nonprofits invited to table at Volunteer Fair in April

Baseball in the Berkshires Hosts West Stockbridge Exhibit

WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. – Baseball in the Berkshires and the West Stockbridge Historical Society will host “Hitting to All Fields in West Stockbridge,” a special exhibit in the society’s Main Street building, April 27 to 30.   Baseball can be traced back in West Stockbridge to at least 1870 but later grew in popularity as a spectator sport during the 1930s and ‘40s with Garrett Troy’s Troy’s Garage team playing at Keresey Field. Eversource and Big Y Partner on Energy Efficiency Projects

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Following energy efficiency upgrades at 21 Big Y grocery stores across Connecticut and Massachusetts, the chain is now reaping the benefits and savings.   Big Y partnered with Eversource's energy efficiency experts to take advantage of incentive programs to make several upgrades in multiple stores. Moderna's Chief Scientific Officer Speaking at Simon's Rock Commencement

Egremont Temporary Traffic Signal Installation on Main Street

EGREMONT, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced it will be installing a temporary traffic signal on Main Street (Route 23 and 41) near the intersection of Creamery Road in Egremont.   The traffic signal will be installed at the location of an existing drainage culvert that is scheduled to be replaced in July 2023.
