Great Barrington Police Utilizing Bodycams

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Police Department's bodycam program rollout will be complete by the end of this week.     All officers will be utilizing body-worn cameras to help document investigations and incidents.   The use of a body-worn camera system provides persuasive documentary evidence and helps defend against civil litigation and allegations of officer misconduct, said officials. Fall Seniors Golf Tour Tees Off at Berkshire Hills

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Ralph Distoli and Bob Linn had the low gross score at Berkshire Hills Country Club in the inaugural Berkshire County Fall Seniors Golf event.   The pair carded a 62 on their home course to edge runners-up Matt Ortega and George Candelet, who finished at 65.   The event on Wednesday was the first of a five-week series for golfers 50 and up to raise funds to support Berkshire County Junior Golf. Each year, the organization awards scholarships to young golfers to support junior memberships at their home club.   Dastoli and Linn won for gross score in the Blue Division, one of two groups based on the combined ages of the pairs.   In the Green Division,

The Great British Walkoff: Koperniak Scores Game-Winner as Team GB Advances

REGENSBURG, Germany -- Hoosac Valley graduate Matt Koperniak Tuesday scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th as Great Britain came from behind to beat Spain, 10-9, and advance from a qualifying tournament to play in March's World Baseball Classic.   Koperniak, a native of London, was the "ghost runner," starting the 10th inning on second base.   After a failed bunt attempt, Great Britain's Justin Wylie reached on a fielder's choice.   Koperniak was called out at third, but after a British challenge, the umpires ruled he was safe.   With runners at the corners and one out, Alex Crosby hit a sacrifice fly to left to drive in Koperniak

Allen Heights Veterinary Repeats as Josh Billings Runaground Champ

LENOX, Mass. -- Hundreds of amateur athletes Sunday won the 46th Josh Billings Runaground Triathlon where, as the motto goes, "To finish is to win."   The day's fastest finishers featured familiar names as the four-man team from Allen Heights Veterinary was the first across the finish line at Camp Mah-Kee-Nac, which took over this year from Tanglewood as the triathlon terminus.   As usual, teams headed out from downtown Great Barrington for a 27-mile bike ride to the boat launch at the Stockbridge Bowl, where pedalers gave way to paddlers for a 5-mile spring around the lake.
