MassDOT Announces I-90 Lane Closures for Infrastructure Work

WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass.— The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that various infrastructure work, including bridge painting, bridge repair, guardrail installation, and drainage structure operations, will be conducted on I-90 eastbound and westbound between Monday, May 12, and Friday, May 16.

The work will necessitate lane closures at different locations along I-90 during both daytime and overnight hours.

In West Stockbridge, bridge painting will occur on I-90 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 1.3 from Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Guardrail work is scheduled on I-90 eastbound from mile marker 0.0 to 1.0

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The CIAO Soccer Hall of Fame induction and scholarship banquet was held on Thursday, May 8, at Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield.   The 2025 inductees were honored, and 21 scholarships were presented to one boy and one girl senior soccer player from each high school in the county (chosen by their high school coaches).      Committee Chairmen Al Belanger and Patrick West introduced inductees and scholarship winners at the event. BNRC Protects 109 Acres Along Webster Road in Tyringham

LENOX, Mass. — Berkshire Natural Resources Council (BNRC) has purchased 109 acres along both sides of Webster Road in Tyringham for conservation, strengthening a conservation corridor adjacent to Beartown State Forest and near the Appalachian Trail.    The acquisition, finalized on March 12, 2025, for $650,000, was made possible through funding from the Nion Robert Thieriot Foundation, Mass Audubon 30x30 Catalyst Fund, the Wyncote Foundation, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Land Acquisition for Forest Reserves Grant Program, and the support of private donors. Del McCoury Band to Perform at Mahaiwe

Bishop Earns Conference Honor at St. Michael's

St. Michael's College first-year catcher and Drury High School graduate Brooke Bishop was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week in mid-April.   Bishop went .389 at the plate with a .667 slugging percentage and .450 on-base percentage in a 3-3 week for the Purple Knights to earn the honor on April 21.   Last week, St. Michael's was eliminated in the NE10 tournament with a 2-0 loss to top-seed Pace, the No. 15-ranked team in Division II at the time.   Needing two wins against Pace to advance in the tourney, St. Michael's won Game 1, when Bishop went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Triplex Cinema to Feature Film Series with Music Supervisor Randall Poster

BOSTON — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has approved, with several conditions, the General Electric Company's Revised On-Site and Off-Site Transportation and Disposal Plan. GE's revised plan maximizes the use of rail and hydraulic pumping for the transport of sediments and soils in and along the Housatonic River that are contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls.   Approximately 75 percent to 80 percent of the material to be removed from the river will be transported hydraulically without the need for any trucks.
