Triplex to Screen 'Made in Massachusetts'

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Triplex Cinema and Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative announce a special one-time screening of "Made in Massachusetts," an epic chronological compilation of scenes from two hundred movies and television shows shot in Massachusetts between 1922 and 2022, including a number of films shot in the Berkshires.    Directors Adam Roffman and Vatche Arabian have compiled memorable clips from one hundred years of filmed entertainment into a delightful and informative film highlighting the diversity of locations in  Massachusetts.   Tickets for the Oct. 13 screening are available at the Triplex Cinema website and are free; there is

'Illuminated' Women in Photography Exhibit

SANDISFIELD, Mass. — The Sandisfield Arts Center will host the opening reception for the art exhibit, "Illuminated: Women in Photograph," on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm with a Slideshow and talk by Amy Arbus, world-renowned award-winning photographer.    The exhibit will be on display in the gallery until Nov. 10. Neal, Markey Reflect on U.S. Political Climate

LEE, Mass. — U.S. Rep. Richard Neal and U.S Sen. Edward Markey shared the reflections on the nation's political climate during separate swings through the Berkshires this week. 

"I watched the whole thing and I've known Tim Walz for a long time and I thought that the debate showed the vigor of where we find ourselves," Neal said at Lee Town Hall after bringing news of a $1 million earmark for Lee's proposed public safety building. This was one day after the vice presidential debate.

Lee Overnight Bridge Painting Operations

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that bridge painting operations will be performed on the I-90 bridge over Route 20 in Lee beginning Sunday night, Oct. 6. The work will take place Sunday through Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and will conclude on Friday, Oct. 11, at 5:30 a.m.

Two lanes of traffic will be maintained during the work with a lane shift. The Route 20 eastbound on-ramp to I-90 will be closed at all times during this work. Traffic will be detoured to the nearby Route 20 westbound on-ramp to I-90.

Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

South County Overnight Road Work

WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that crews will be performing nighttime paving, traffic marking, guardrail, and bridge repair operations along I-90 eastbound and westbound from Monday night, Oct. 7, through Thursday night, Oct. 10.

Lane closures will be in effect, and traffic will be allowed through the work zones. The schedule for the work and lane closures is as follows:

CHP Mobile Health Offering Covid Vaccines

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — CHP Mobile Health is now offering the 2025 Covid-19 vaccine (Pfizer) during its mobile health clinics throughout the Berkshires.    Patients are also invited to receive a flu shot at the same time, to ward off both Covid and flu this coming fall-winter. Thankful 5K Expanding in Ninth Year

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Berkshire Running Foundation is eager to kick off the fundraising efforts surrounding the 9th annual MountainOne Thankful 5K to be held on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28 at 9 a.m. at Berkshire Community College.    This year the Thankful 5K expands to include walkers, virtual participants and a new training program for the community.   The annual event is a fundraiser hosted by the Foundation to raise much needed funds for the South Community Food Pantry and the local Fuel Assistance Fund.   The first 500 participants who register for the event receive a Thankful hat, with all the proceeds going to the designated causes. Suspect Arraigned in Fatal Stockbridge Hit & Run

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — A West Stockbridge woman has been charged in the hit-and-run that killed Franklin Ripley on Saturday.    Samantha C. Paige, 36, was arrested Tuesday morning and arraigned in Southern Berkshire District Court.   Defendant was charged with leaving scene of personal injury, resulting in death. Judge John P. McKenna set bail at $7,500. However, Paige is being held without the right to bail for a probation warrant issued by Central Berkshire District Court on an unrelated case.   Ripley, 72, of Stockbridge was apparently riding his electric scooter along Route 102 on Saturday morning when he was struck.
