Colleen Trager had dreams of being an opera singer and working in the music world but family needs brought her back to the Berkshires. After years in accounting, she found her place in teaching.  BECKET, Mass. — Becket Washington Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Colleen Trager has been selected as the October Teacher of the Month.   The Teacher of the Month series, in collaboration with Berkshire Community College, will run for the next seven months and will feature distinguished teachers nominated by community members. Mild Drought In Parts of Berkshire County

BOSTON – Following two months of below normal rainfall, Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Rebecca Tepper declared a Level 1-Mild Drought in the Central and Northeast Regions of Massachusetts. Additionally, a localized Level 1-Mild Drought has been declared in the Boston Harbor Basin (partially in the Northeast and Southeast Regions) and the Hudson Basin (in the northern part of the Western Region).   Due to critically low flow conditions, a localized Level 1-Mild Drought declaration remains in the Parker River Basin.     A Level 1-Mild Drought, as outlined in the Massachusetts Drought Management Plan, requires detailed monitoring of drought

MA Health Connector Open Enrollment Starts Nov. 1

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Open Enrollment season begins Nov. 1 for customers of the Massachusetts Health Connector, which administers subsidized ACA health plans.    CHP Berkshires is now scheduling appointments to assist area residents with finding new coverage or updating their current plan.    The income limits for Health Connector subsidized plans are now $69,400 for an individual and $155,000 for a family of four. Berkshire Communities Awarded Dam Infrastucture Grants

BOSTON?—The Healey-Driscoll Administration today announced over $13.9 million in grants to support the repair of dams and coastal infrastructure across Massachusetts. CHP Berkshires Completes Dental Expansion

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — CHP Berkshires celebrated the reopening of Great Barrington Family Dental at its new brick-and-mortar location on Stockbridge Road, with staff, friends and supports, board, some patients and representatives from MassHealth's Boston office.   The state-of-the-art dental practice is the final step in CHP's dental expansion throughout the Berkshires: since 2022, CHP has established practices in North Adams, Adams and Great Barrington, in order to expand dental care access to for thousands of Berkshire County residents.
