Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce Announces Photo Contest

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce has opened submissions for its annual photo contest, with a deadline of Monday, March 10, 2025. The winning photograph will be featured on the cover of the 2025-26 Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce brochure.   The contest seeks high-resolution images (300 dpi or greater) that represent the Southern Berkshires as a four-season destination. Acceptable subjects include, but are not limited to, outdoor scenes, food, arts and culture, shopping, sports, recreation, and agriculture. Photos containing distinguishable advertising or business entities will not be accepted.   There is no limit to the number of

MassDOT Advisory: Becket Bridge Work on I-90 Westbound

BECKET, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced it will be conducting bridge work utilizing lane closures on I-90 westbound at mile marker 18.4.    The work will take place from Monday, March 3, through Friday, March 7, during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.    Drivers traveling through this area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.    Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.    All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.

Quilt Exhibit On Display at Ventfort Hall

LENOX, Mass. — Ventfort Hall is presenting "Witness: Sharing Cancer Stories at Ventfort Hall," a quilt exhibit by Francesca Olsen, on display through March 31.   "Witness" explores the experiences of young adults during and after cancer treatment. The exhibit aims to visually represent the reported increase in young adult cancers. Ranch Life 101 Summer Program Opens at Berkshire HorseWorks

Almost Spring Weekender Brings Global Dance and Music to Sheffield

Warm Up the Winter Musical Supports South Berkshire Residents

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Guthrie Center will host the Warm Up the Winter Musical Celebration on Thursday, March 6, to benefit Construct’s annual winter assistance campaign. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with performances starting at 7:15 p.m.

This year's event, a tribute to working families, features a lineup of local musicians, including Wanda Houston and Jeff Gonzales, youth Elvis tribute band Made in Memphis, and special guest Doug Mishkin. Tickets are $100 and include live music, dinner catered by Juju’s of Great Barrington, and beverages.

Proceeds will support South Berkshire residents with emergency needs such as heating fuel, utilities, and rent assistance.

BNRC Announces New Board Leadership and Members

Sydney "Syd" Smithers as its new Board of Directors Chair.    Smithers, a retired Berkshire County real estate attorney with over 50 years of experience, previously served on the BNRC board for 10 years and rejoined last year.   John Mancia, a BNRC board member since 2018, was appointed Vice Chair.
