Mount Everett Class of 2023 Emphasizes Strength and Community Ties

LENOX, Mass. — Mount Everett Regional School's class of 2023 was reminded of their strength and community support during commencement on Saturday morning.  

Forty-seven students received their diplomas at Tanglewood's Koussevitzky Music Shed under cloudy-but-dry skies.

Principal Jesse Carpenter said that are not many communities where all of the adults involved in student lives care so much about each and every one.

Mount Everett's Top Students Announced for 2023

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Mount Everett Regional School has named Kelsey Eichstedt as valedictorian and Jay T. Seward-Dailey as salutatorian of the class of 2023.   Graduation exercises will held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Tanglewood in Lenox.    Eichstedt has completed a rigorous course of study during her years at Mount Everett that includes one Advanced Placement course, 13 honors courses, two early college courses, and one dual-enrollment course.    She is an active member of her community and grew up tending to dairy cows on her family's Twin Rivers Farm. MassDOT Touch a Truck in Lenox

LENOX, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) annonced "Touch-A-Truck" events at Highway district depots across the Commonwealth are being rescheduled.    Due to rain in the forecast, the events will now be held to Saturday, June 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.     Families can visit MassDOT Highway district depots for the annual Touch-a-Truck event featuring a dump truck, bucket trucks, plows and more. This is a family-friendly event that connects the community with MassDOT workers that keep the Commonwealth's roadways safe and operational year-round. South Berkshire Rural Health Network Gets State Grant

BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced an award of nearly $250,000 in Local Food Policy Council program funding to 17 organizations across Massachusetts.    This includes an $11,820 grant for South Berkshire Rural Health Network that will be used to develop a strategic plan and improve connections to the region's most vulnerable residents.   "Massachusetts' local food policy councils and food working groups are vital to the fabric of our food system and help connect communities to healthy, nutritious foods. We are happy to recognize and invest in this important work," said Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper.

Lee High Names Tops Students for Class of 2023

LEE, Mass. — Tyler J. Moran and Isabella G. Lovato have been named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of Lee High School's class of 2023.     Graduation ceremonies will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, at the Koussevitzky Music Shed at Tanglewood.   Moran is the son of Bruce and Sherri Moran of Lee. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was a French tutor and an elementary school robotics coach; he also regularly volunteers at the local food pantry. Authorities Investigating Ward's Nursery Fire in Great Barrington

The aftermath of the blaze behind Ward's Nursery. GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — An outdoor storage area at Ward's Nursery caught fire on Friday and damaged the exterior of an apartment house less than a dozen feet away on Silver Street.    The cause of the fire is unknown and the State Fire Marshal's office is working the investigation with local police and fire. Lee, Becket Overnight Paving, Bridge and Guardrail Repair

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced crews will be conducting overnight paving operations and bridge and guardrail repair work on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Montgomery, Russell, Becket and Lee.    The scheduled work will require some lane and shoulder closures, and is scheduled to take place as follows:   Montgomery/Russell Bridge repair work will be conducted nightly on I-90 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 36.0 from Tuesday, May 30, to Friday, June 2, during overnight hours from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning.  All work is anticipated to conclude by 5:00 a.m. on Friday, June
