Construct Launches Winter Fundraising Campaign for Emergency Assistance

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.— Construct is launching its Warm Up the Winter Fuel Crisis 2024–No One Should Be Cold fundraiser, which provides critical funding to South Berkshire County residents needing emergency assistance for fuel, utility, rental payments, and emergency accommodation.    According to a press release, this year, over 10,000 Berkshire households have applied to a state-funded fuel assistance program (LIHEAP), but funds have run out. Good government is harder than it looks. Good government, like good political leadership, requires getting things done even when people fundamentally disagree, while keeping those same people on speaking terms. Berkshire Farms, Organizations Receive Food Access Grants

BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced $8.2 million to support greater food access to residents in underserved Massachusetts communities. 

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is awarding the Urban Agriculture Program, the Local Food Policy Council Program, the Massachusetts Food Ventures Program, and Local Food Purchase Assistance Plus Program grants to 42 businesses and organizations that will help strengthen the local food system and address food insecurity. 

"One of the most effective ways to combat hunger and food insecurity in our state is to strengthen our local food systems," said Governor Maura Healey.

Berkshire Running Sets Full Year of Charity Runs

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Berkshire Running Foundation has released the 2024 Race Calendar for the local nonprofit with several new events scheduled throughout the county.   Following its first official year operating as a nonprofit entity in 2023, the 501c3 organization, which has a mission of advancing and expanding on the positive impact the running community has on the neighborhoods we live, produced, and directed eight events in 2023.
