Westfield 16-Year-Old Babe Ruth Team Edges Southern Berkshire

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Jackson Barnes drove in a run in the bottom of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and send the Westfield 16-year-old Babe Ruth Baseball team a 5-4 win over Southern Berkshire in the Western Massachusetts Tournament on Friday night.   Cam Simmons and Kyle McMahon each went 2-for-3 at the plate for Southern Berkshire, which got a double from Gabe Ranzoni.   Cam Coon and Erik Miller split time on the mound for the Southern Berkshire Knights, combining to strike out three.   Westfield and Southern Berkshire play Game 2 of their best-of-three Western Mass playoff on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Memorial Field in Great Barrington.

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Jaylen Dean and Ryan Aldrich combined on a one-hitter Friday as the Westfield Babe Ruth 14-year-old All-Stars defeated South Berkshire, 6-0, in the Western Massachusetts Tournament.   Dean struck out eight in five innings of work to earn the win on the mound as Westfield (2-0) finished on top of a three-team round robin and advanced to Sunday’s championship game against Pittsfield.   Cayden Dionne went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead Westfield’s offense.   Jacob Blackwell had a base hit for South Berkshire.   Mason Bailey went the distance on the mound for the Knights, allowing five earned runs.   Westfield and

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday morning for its new affordable housing project, Prosperity Way.
