MassDOT: Becket Bridge Work on I-90 Eastbound and Westbound

BECKET, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing bridge work will be conducted on I-90 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 18.4.    The work will take place from Wednesday, March 26, through Friday, March 28, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.   Drivers traveling through these areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.   Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work areas.   All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.

Triplex Cinema Hires Amy Handelsman as Executive Director

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Triplex Cinema has hired Amy Handelsman as its Executive Director.    Handelsman has assumed her new position and will oversee all aspects of Triplex operations.   Nicki Wilson, President of the Triplex Board of Directors, stated that Handelsman's experience will be an asset to the Triplex.   "We are thrilled to have someone with such a wide range of experience join the ‘new’ Triplex as our first Executive Director. Triplex Cinema to Host Preview Screening of 'Holland'

Bidwell House Museum to Host Online Lecture on the History of Money

Triplex Cinema Receives Grant from Feigenbaum Foundation

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.— The Triplex Cinema has received a grant from the Pittsfield-based Feigenbaum Foundation.

The grant will be used to purchase newly enhanced Theatre Management Software. The new system will allow the Triplex to upgrade its software program, which is used for digital theatrical projection.

The Feigenbaum Foundation provides financial assistance for education in technology, engineering, and management; academic institutions and disciplines; medical initiatives and disciplines; cultural programs and projects; community-based tax-exempt organizations in Berkshire County; and established religious institutions programs and projects.

Housing Secretary Talks Seasonal Communities at Rockwell Museum

Housing Secretary Ed Augustus meets with the Seasonal Communities Advisory Council in Stockbridge after participating in a housing panel on Community Television of the Southern Berkshires.

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Eight Berkshire communities have more than 40 percent seasonal housing, warranting a designation from the state.

Housing Secretary Edward Augustus traveled to the Norman Rockwell Museum on Wednesday for the second meeting of the Seasonal Communities Advisory Council. Stockbridge, Alford, Becket, Hancock, Monterey, Mount Washington, Otis, and Tyringham have this designation, as established in the Affordable Homes Act.

Berkshire Art Center Artist Residency 2025 Applications Open

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Berkshire Art Center will be accepting applications for its 2025 Berkshire Artist Residency Program starting March 10.

This year, Berkshire-based artists can apply for a summer residency at four local institutions - The Red Lion Inn, Chesterwood, and now, Arrowhead and Hancock Shaker Village. A total of four selected artists will spend three months creating work inspired by the history, landscape, culture, and architecture of those institutions.
