Memorial Day Events 2025

The parade will step off at 10 a.m. from the Memorial Building and conclude with the traditional ceremony at the Maple Street Cemetery. The usual route will be followed: Columbia Street to Hoosac Street, Hoosac to Summer, Center to Park Street. Lineup begins at 8:30.

The American Legion Post 160 Honor Guard will participate. Music will be provided by the Hoosac Valley High School band. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in the Memorial Building.

Becket
The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at North Becket Cemetery, ending at Ballou Park for ceremonies at 11. Lineup begins at 10. Reception to follow at Federated Church. In case of inclement weather, it will be held on the

Photo Courtesy of U.S. Army Arlington National Cemetery is the nation's first federal military cemetery. A ceremony is held each Memorial Day at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Memorial Day is being celebrated Monday, May 26. It is a federal holiday observing the sacrifices of the nation's servicemen and -women. It started as a day to decorate the graves of fallen Civil War soldiers, particularly in the South, and many states adopted the day as Decoration Day to commemorate all U.S. soldiers after World War I.

Memorial Day was established as a federal holiday in 1971 by Congress. It falls on the last Monday in May.

EPA Awards Brownfields Grants to Revitalize Berkshire County Communities

BOSTON — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced significant Brownfields Grant funding to support the cleanup and revitalization of communities within Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Over $2.5 million has been specifically allocated to projects aimed at transforming blighted properties into valuable community assets.   The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) has been selected to receive $2,000,000 in supplemental funding for its Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) program. This substantial funding boost builds upon the $11,095,667 already awarded to the BRPC by the EPA. The BRPC's RLF program has a proven track record, having facilitated

Triplex Cinema Screens 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' Free for Premium Members

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.— The Triplex Cinema will host a free premium members screening of Steven Spielberg’s 1981 film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" on Thursday, May 22nd. The film, set in 1936, stars Harrison Ford as archaeologist Indiana Jones as he competes with Nazi forces to locate the Ark of the Covenant. Jones is joined by his former romantic interest, Marion Ravenswood, played by Karen Allen, to prevent a rival archaeologist from assisting the Nazis in obtaining the Ark.

Triplex Cinema to Host Free Screening of 'The Land of Azaba' with Director Q&A

MassDOT Announces Lane Closures on I-90 in Multiple Towns for Infrastructure Work

Access to Bash Bish Falls Remains Closed for Trail Work

MOUNT WASHINGTON, Mass.— The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has announced an ongoing closure at Bash Bish Falls State Park.

Beginning on Monday, April 21, 2025, and continuing through Thursday, June 12, 2025, access to Bash Bish Falls State Park in the Town of Mount Washington will be closed to facilitate work addressing trail erosion and drainage.

The viewing area will remain accessible to visitors who can enter the park via the parking area and trails viewing area from Taconic State Park in New York.
