MassDOT Schedules Work on MassPike

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be performing overnight and daytime milling, paving, bridge repair, and bridge painting operations on I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) eastbound and westbound in the towns of Stockbridge, Becket, Montgomery, and Russell. All work is weather dependent and will take place at the following locations and times:   Stockbridge: Milling and paving operations will be conducted on the MassPike eastbound from mile marker 2.0 to mile marker 7.8 nightly from Sunday night, July 20, through Thursday night, July 24, from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.  The MassPike eastbound Exit 3 on-ramp will be closed for paving operations

Bidwell Museum Holding Roadshow Summer Fundraiser

MONTEREY, Mass. — The Bidwell House Museum has announced the details of its annual summer fundraising party to be held on Friday, July 25, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the museum.   Attendees can have objects evaluated by local experts, including Charlie Flint, former owner of Charles L. W.E.B. Du Bois Statue Unveiling Set Saturday

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — A life-size sculpture of civil rights activist W.E.B. Du Bois will be unveiled in his hometown this Saturday at 2 p.m.    The bronze sculpture, created by artist Richard Blake, will sit on a curving marble bench at the center of a redesigned plaza at Mason Public Library. The site features renovated steps, added seating, and a sense of welcome.    "This moment represents years of dedication from so many people," said Ari Zorn, co-chair of the W.E.B. Westfield 16-Year-Old Babe Ruth Team Edges Southern Berkshire

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Jackson Barnes drove in a run in the bottom of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and send the Westfield 16-year-old Babe Ruth Baseball team a 5-4 win over Southern Berkshire in the Western Massachusetts Tournament on Friday night.   Cam Simmons and Kyle McMahon each went 2-for-3 at the plate for Southern Berkshire, which got a double from Gabe Ranzoni.   Cam Coon and Erik Miller split time on the mound for the Southern Berkshire Knights, combining to strike out three.   Westfield and Southern Berkshire play Game 2 of their best-of-three Western Mass playoff on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Memorial Field in Great Barrington.
