Cheryl A. Petell, 70

June 12, 2025

DALTON, Mass. —  Mrs. Cheryl A. Petell, 70, of Dalton, passed away at home on June 12, 2025.

Born in Pittsfield on June 16, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Eileen Partridge and attended local schools.

On September 20, 1986, she married the love of her life, Daniel S. Petell, in a beautiful ceremony that marked the beginning of their nearly four-decade journey together.

In her early years, Cheryl was employed at Hickory Farms and Brockway Plastics. She later joined T.J.Maxx before choosing to dedicate herself full-time to raising her three children. She eventually returned to the workforce as a jewelry coordinator, a role she cherished until her retirement.

Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Daniel; their children and their partners: Justin D. Petell and his fiancée, Christine D. Holland; Sarah A. Daley and her husband, Frank J. Daley III; and Katelyn G. Petell and her fiancé, Shawn M.J. Hopkins. She leaves behind four adored grandchildren: Liam D. Petell, Savanna R. Petell, Olivia M. Daley, and Luke J. Daley.

She is also survived by her sister, Susan E. Higgins; her brother, Michael R. Partridge, and his wife, Kelly; and her sister-in-law, Debbie A. Partridge. In addition, Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her extended family of in-laws: Cheryl Petell; Linda and Michael Cachat; Raymond and Sheila Petell; Dennis Petell; Sandra and Sandy Williams; Brenda Petell; and Ann and Harold Heath.

She was predeceased by her baby brother, Michael J. Partridge; her brother, Robert A. Partridge Sr.; her brother-in-law, Daniel J. Higgins Sr.; and her sister, Mary-Lou Partridge.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery-Foley Funeral Home in Dalton. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, officiated by Rev. Christopher Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow at Ashuelot Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to No Paws Left Behind, a local animal shelter, in care of Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 E. Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.

Cheryl was our shining light, and her love reached every part of our lives. The memories she left us with will remain in our hearts, and although we feel her absence deeply, we know she's still with us, watching over us from Heaven.
