PITTSFIELD, Mass. —
Kenneth R. Duchesneau, 78, of Pittsfield, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY from complications of Agent Orange. Ken served honorably in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1965 -1969, where he was exposed to the toxic herbicide.
He was born in Springfield, Vermont on September 19, 1946 to Ruth and Henry Duchesneau. They eventually moved to Pittsfield, MA, where both of his parents passed away when Ken was just 14 years old. This greatly affected his life.
Ken had a long and varied work history. Before he retired, he worked as a truck driver for J.H. Maxymillian, Inc. in Pittsfield. Most recently, before his illness, he worked as a driver for Soldier On in Pittsfield, taking Veterans to their appointments. This was the perfect job for him, as he loved to help the Veterans and loved to drive. He had a passion for driving nice cars and owned many during his life.
Ken had a big heart. If he heard of someone in need and could help in any way, he did so without hesitation. He’d given gifts and donations to help in many situations, countless rides to those without a car and many things impossible to recount here. He also had a very soft heart for the children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and helped them immensely.
Ken had a great sense of humor which all his friends appreciated. He could make them laugh and they loved interacting with him. He also loved dogs and had many of them during his life. He would always carry biscuits with him to give to any he met.
Ken is survived by his many friends who love and miss him. From our hearts we say, “Rest in peace dear friend, until we meet again.”
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 28th at 10:30 AM in Pittsfield Cemetery, 203 Wahconah St. Pittsfield. Those attending are asked to meet inside the main entrance of the cemetery by 10:15 AM.
