Mary Slupinski

June 21, 2003

Mary Slupinski, 82, of 22 Kirk St., Housatonic, died Saturday evening at home.

Born in Skurkowice, Poland, on July 4, 1920, daughter of Valentino and Aniela Wronczyk Jonczyk, she attended schools there.

During World War II, she was in a work camp in Germany.

She emigrated to the United States in October 1951, settling in Herkimer, N.Y., and moved to Housatonic in 1952.

Mrs. Slupinski retired in the late 1980s after many years in the housekeeping department at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge. She had previously worked at the former Berkshire and Oakwood inns, and at Monument Mills Manufacturing Co.

She was a communicant of All Saints’ Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, dancing and cooking.

Her husband, Stanley Slupinski, whom she married Dec. 26, 1945, died April 26, 1992.

She leaves three daughters, Christine I. Hoskeer of Pittsfield, Irene Harding of Housatonic and Genevive Skiba of Poland; a son, Tony Slupinski of Housatonic; a sister, Christine Cvinska of Poland; five grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mary Slupinski of 22 Kirk St., Housatonic, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at home. She also leaves five grandchildren, Yvonne Skiba, Dana M. Estrella, Craig A. and Jarrett L. Hoskeer, and Jeremy Harding; and a great-granddaughter, Kylie Estrella.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 at All Saints’ Church in Housatonic by the Rev. Anthony J. Jutt, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, Monday, from 4 to 7 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME.
