George H. Boheln

George H. Boheln, 85, of North Plain Road, Housatonic, died Monday at Laurel Lake Center in Lee.
Born in Richmond Hill, N.Y., on July 4, 1918, son of Henry and Adelaide Sands Bohlen, he graduated from high school in New York.
He moved to Housatonic in the late 1960s.
A decorated Army veteran of World War II, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded a Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman's Badge.
An art dealer, Mr. Bohlen owned and operated the River's Bend Art Gallery in West Stockbridge until he retired and closed the business in 2002.
An avid reader, he studied with J. Krishnamurti and, during the last decade, studied the inner workings of the mind.
He and his wife, the former Marie Plewka, would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 28.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, George S. Bohlen of Housatonic; a daughter, Eileen Kuperschmid-Pierce of Housatonic; a sister, Adele Bohlen of Lenox, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial gathering for George H. Bohlen, who died Feb. 16, 2004, will be held for family and close friends Saturday, March 6, at 1 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
Mr. Bohlen also leaves his daughter-in-law, Patrecia Bohlen; his son-in-law, Alfred Coppola; three grandchildren, Daniel Kuperschmid of Albuquerque, N.M., Christopher Mitsinikos of Upper Saddle River, N.J., and Rachel Roberts of Salem, and three great-grandchildren, Cassandra and Owen Mitsinikos and Sierra Kuperschmid.
