Students from Lasell's School of Fashion attend Coterie NYC.
Spencer Villinski, a student at Lasell University in Newton, traveled with the university's School of Fashion to Coterie NYC, a premier trade show hosting more than 500 brands at the Jacob Javits Center.
 
Villinski, a resident of Pittsfield, was one of 50 Lasell School of Fashion students who attended the show to view apparel lines from vendors around the United States, and witnessed firsthand how buyers select products for their stores and e-commerce sites. Villinski also attended the show on behalf of Lasell's student-run boutique, studio1851 to learn about merchandising and consider new vendors and products to source for the on-campus store.
 
Lasell's School of Fashion provides students hands-on learning opportunities, taught by instructors who have frontline experience in design, production, merchandising, communication and promotion, marketing, and more.
 
 
Alex White of Dalton is the recipient of the Chancellor Scholars scholarship award at the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, where he is studying physics. The college distributed $2.4 million in scholarships to students this academic year. 
 
 
Two Pittsfield residents were among the Lasell University students who shared original research and projects, and engaged with core competencies identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers at recent the annual Career Readiness Symposium. The Newton college's symposium takes place every fall.
 
Mike Maruk shared a video special on behalf of Lasell Community Television, a program in which students can gain experience in working with camera equipment, learn editing software, and practice screenwriting. The presentation incorporated the NACE competencies of professionalism, leadership, equity and inclusion, and career and self-development. Maruk also represented Lasell's student-run radio station, WLAS, which plays programming at 102.9FM and streams on iHeart Radio. Maruk is the production manager for WLAS. In addition, he shared work from the fall semester on behalf of the 1851 Chronicle, Lasell's student-run newspaper. Maruk is the paper's art director and photographer.
 
Spencer Villinski presented the latest edition of Polished, Lasell's student-run fashion magazine. The presentation incorporated the NACE competencies of professionalism, leadership, equity & inclusion, and career & self-development. Villinski is a blog writer for the magazine.
 
 
Two area juniors attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute have completed required research-driven, professional-level projects. Samuel Parks of Berkshire, majoring in computer science, completed a project titled "Kyoto Sustainability Film Festival B21" and Shane Donahue of East Otis, also majoring in computer science, completed the project titled "Network Mapping Land Use Stakeholders in Franklin County, Mass."
 
Esther Chilson of Lanesborough participated in Emerson Stage's production of "Next to Normal" in January. Chilson is a freshman at Emerson College in Boston and is majoring in stage and production management.
 
 
Catherine Boino of Dalton was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at the University of Tampa in Florida. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. 
 

Graduations 

Lauren Mazzeo of Pittsfield graduated in December 2021 with a degree in speech pathology from James Madison University. Mazzeo was among more than 890 students who received undergraduate, master's, educational specialist and doctoral degrees.
 
 
Crystal Shaw of Pittsfield graduated this past fall with a master of science in nursing, family nurse practitioner, from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
 
 
 

Academic Lists & Awards

The University of Vermont in Burlington has named the following local students to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester: Patience Macpherson of Dalton, environmental studies; Bom Bee Lahart of Lenox, elementary education; Owen Brandriss of Williamstown, mechanical engineering; and Ethan Labatt of Pownal, Vt., undeclared.
 
 
Stonehill College in Easton has named Gianni Bertelli of Great Barrington and Ryan Abel, Hayley Tobin and Alexa Yasinski, all of Pittsfield, to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester.
 
 
Michaela Larkin of Cheshire, a art and design major at Plymouth (N.H.) State University has been named to the president's list for the fall 2021 semester.
 
The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., has awarded dean's list honors for the fall 2021 semester to Julia Esoldi of North Adams, majoring in human resource management, and Pittsfield residents Laura Knowlton, majoring in education, and Crystal Moore, majoring in music.
 
Michael Maruk of Pittsfield has been named to dean's list at Lasell University in Newton for the fall 2021 semester.

Nate Aaron Beaupre of Pittsfield and Noah Payne of Pownal, Vt., have been named presidential scholars at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., for the fall semester. Beaupre, a senior, is majoring in mechanical engineering, and Payne, a sophomore, is majoring in chemistry.
 
Mary Hines of Pittsfield was named to the dean's list at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, for the 2021-22 fall semester. She studying arts in media and culture and political science.
 
Kristen Aliberti of Williamstown and William Borowsky of Dalton were named to the Ithaca (N.Y.) College dean's list for the fall 2021 semester.
 
Springfield Technical Community has named the following local students to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester: Elizabeth J. Lambert of Cheshire, Michael D. Samantha Greene of Pownal, Vt., has achieved dean's list honors in the certificate of practical nursing program at Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center.
 
Grace Cohan of Pittsfield earned dean's list honors at the University of Tampa in Florida for the fall 2021 semester. Cohan is majoring in communication, media, and culture.

Polumbo, a senior, is a graduate of Mount Greylock Regional School and is majoring in psychology and business in the liberal arts. Young, a freshman, attended Lenox Memorial High School.

Emily Paige Godfrey of Adams has been named to fall 2021 dean's list at Husson University in Bangor, Maine. Godfrey is pursuing a bachelor of science in audio engineering with a concentration in live sound production program.

Noah Pott of Great Barrington was named to the dean's list at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, for the fall semester. The son of David A. Pott and Alix E. von Auenmueller, he is a 2018 graduate of Great Barrington Waldorf High School. He is majoring in theater and music at Bates.

Hannah Lagonia of Lenox made the fall 2021 dean's list at Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y.

Irina Lashtur of Becket has earned a spot on fall 2021 dean's list at Goodwin University in East Hartford, Conn. 
 
Kyle Brogan of Dalton (mechatronics design) and Daisy Dominguez of Pittsfield (veterinary science technology) were named to the fall 2021 dean's list at the State University of New York at Delhi. 
 
Purchase (N.Y.) College has named Natalie Celebi of Pittsfield and Katarina Tobits of Readsboro, Vt., to the dean's list for fall 2021.
 
Lucienne Burnett of South Lee has been named to the honor's list for fall 2021 at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is attending the university's Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, N.J.
 
Hannah Flynn of Great Barrington has been named to 2021 fall dean's list at Loyola University in Baltimore.
 
 
Mitchell Bath of Williamstown was named to the Milwaukee School of Engineering's dean's list with high honors for the 2022 winter quarter. Bath is pursuing a bachelor of science in computer engineering.
