EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sheffield resident John-Michael Harden this month earned a gold medal at the DuPage Open figure skating tournament.

 

Harden finished on top of a five-competitor field in the novice men combined division.

 

He posted a score of 39.67 with a one-point decduction after a program that included a triple lutz and a triple salchow with a triple toeloop.

 

Harden, who skates for the Connecticut-based Charter Oak Figure Skating Club, also took home a bronze medal in a 10-skater field in the novice men combined at the Cranberry Open in Norwood, Mass., this month.

 

Harden is ranked third in New England and seventh in the nation in his class by U.S. Figure Skating.
