Closure of Norfolk Road Bridge over the Umpachene River In New Marlborough

NEW MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced it will be implementing a full closure of the Norfolk Road Bridge located over the Umpachene River in New Marlborough.  The closure will begin on Monday, March 6, and is needed to facilitate bridge repair operations.  
 
The bridge is anticipated to be re-opened to travel in July.
 
A detour, which will be in effect for the duration of the closure, will utilize Mill River Southfield Road, Lumbert Cross Road, and Canaan Southfield Road. 
 
Message boards, signs, traffic control devices, and police details will be used to guide drivers safely through the work zone. 
 
Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. 
 
All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
