GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Triplex Cinema announces a special one-week limited engagement run of Steven Spielberg's iconic film Jaws, starring Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss.
Jaws opens on Friday, Aug. 29 with a special interactive screening on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 7:00 pm: "The Head, the Tail, the Whole Damn Thing." This screening will include preshow trivia, a prize for best costume and a cue sheet to help quote, yell and scream along with the film. Tickets are available for purchase at www.thetriplex.org.
According to a press release:
Released in the summer of 1975, and widely regarded as a landmark of motion picture history, Jaws established the summer blockbuster by becoming the highest grossing film in history until the release of Star Wars in 1977. Based on Peter Benchley's best-selling novel, Jaws was the first film to be shot on the ocean, with additional filming at locations on the island of Martha's Vineyard. The first film to be widely released, on a then unheard of 475 screens (quickly growing to 950 screens), Jaws was an immediate phenomenon, playing to sold-out audiences for more than a year in the United States and around the world.
