Intersection Conflict Warning System Installed at Monument Mountain Regional High School| 11:03AM / Thursday, April 20, 2023 | |
 GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has installed a new Intersection Conflict Warning System (ICWS) at the intersection of Route 7 and Mountain Regional High School Drive in Great Barrington. The new system, which is located at the driveway to the Mountain Regional High School, seeks to help improve intersection safety and reduce crashes at this heavily traveled location. This is the first of such devices to be installed on a state highway in Massachusetts. GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — If voters vote yes at the Annual Town Meeting in May, $1.17 million in Community Preservation Act funds will be directed to town affordable housing, historic preservation and outdoor recreation and conservation projects around town. Discovery Day is designed to give prospective students and families a chance to tour the campus, meet faculty and students, and get to know the Simon's Rock community. Discovery Day also includes a more in-depth exploration of Simon's Rock's academic and residential programs, professor mentorship, and the admission and financial aid process. GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — residents can pick up their Earth Day trash collection bags starting Monday, April 17, at locations around town. The town-wide Earth Day clean-up is Saturday, April 22, and town residents are encouraged to pitch in with a town-wide clean-up. Collection bags can be filled with roadside trash and left for pickup by the town. Residents are asked to sign up here so the town knows where to pick up bags. GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Community Health Programs (CHP) Berkshires Mobile Health team now offers the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric bivalent booster shots for children 6 months through age 4. These boosters are free. CHP Mobile Health clinics are held at multiple locations each week around Berkshire County, and the schedule can be found at chpberkshires.org/mobile. These booster shots are free. The Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent pediatric booster shots are available to children who received three Pfizer-BioNTech primary Covid-19 vaccines of the monovalent type.  WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. – Baseball in the Berkshires and the West Stockbridge Historical Society will host “Hitting to All Fields in West Stockbridge,” a special exhibit in the society’s Main Street building, April 27 to 30. Baseball can be traced back in West Stockbridge to at least 1870 but later grew in popularity as a spectator sport during the 1930s and ‘40s with Garrett Troy’s Troy’s Garage team playing at Keresey Field. Imagine more than 3,000 people crowding into West Stockbridge at one time, let alone into one baseball field.  SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Following energy efficiency upgrades at 21 Big Y grocery stores across Connecticut and Massachusetts, the chain is now reaping the benefits and savings. Big Y partnered with Eversource's energy efficiency experts to take advantage of incentive programs to make several upgrades in multiple stores. The grocery store chain is now saving some 9.3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, the equivalent of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by removing 840 gasoline powered vehicles from area roads for a year.
