Stockbridge Grange Hosts Community Dinner

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Stockbridge Grange is hosting a community dinner on Sunday, June 9, 2024.    The menu features ham, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and dessert choices of chocolate cream or lemon meringue pie.    Dinner is $15.00 per person, take out only with 12-1:30 pm pick up at 51 Church Street, Stockbridge.  Orders may be made by calling 413-243-1298 or 413-443-4352.     Grange Community Dinners are designed to raise money for non-profit projects and building maintenance.

Berkshire Schools Receive Green Team Awards

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) recognized students from 63 schools across Massachusetts with Green Team Awards for outstanding environmental stewardship and educational activities.    Green Team is a statewide program sponsored by the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) and MassDEP to empower students and teachers to help the environment by taking action in their communities.    Green Team classes for the 2023-2024 school year received prizes for their participation, including reusable stainless-steel straws, reusable bamboo utensil sets, water bottle stickers, or paper bookmarks with seeds

Bidwell House: Unlearning in Order to Learn

MONTEREY, Mass. — For the 2nd presentation in the Bidwell House's summer history talk series,  Alice Nash explores local indigenous histories.

This lecture with discussion will present the concept of unlearning what we already "know" as the starting point for learning about Indigenous peoples.

Fairview Lab Draw Station Moves to New Location

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) has announced that the Laboratory blood draw station at Fairview Hospital, called the Laboratory Patient Service Center (PSC), has been moved to the ground floor of the hospital.   The relocation to the former medical records space puts the PSC closer to the main entrance of the hospital.   The new area is designed to enhance patient privacy and patient comfort, according to Kathy Lavinio, outreach manager for Laboratory Services at BHS.    "Located in the area that was previously Medical Records, patients no longer navigate an elevator and wait in the hallway for service. SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Mount Everett Regional School announces that Allison Steuernagle has been named valedictorian, and Emily Steuernagle has been named salutatorian of the class of 2024.   Allison Steuernagle has completed a rigorous course of study during her years at Mount Everett which includes three AP courses, 10 honors courses, and four early college courses. Nearly 100 Compete in Berkshire Pride 5K

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Jay Santangelo of Lenox was the top nonbinary runner at the Berkshire Pride 5K on Sunday.   Santangelo covered the 5-kilometer course in 27 minutes, 14.53 seconds to place 16th overall among 94 finishers.   Pittsfield's Cam LaFerriere was the overall winner in 22.45.72, a 7:19 mile pace.   LaFerriere finished 24 seconds ahead of Canaan, N.Y.'s, Thomas Salaatte in second place (23:09.52).   The top woman in the field was Williamstown's Maya Filson, who placed seventh overall with a time of 24:09.06.   Full results are available on the Berkshire Running Center's website.

LENOX, Mass. — Valedictorian Ariel "Ari" Caine struggled to come up with a speech for Monument Mountain Regional High School's class of 2024.     They tried to spin a mystery with the crime as the "death of empathy" especially through the use of social media.
