MassDOT Advisory: West Stock Bridge Gaurdrail and Bridge Repair

WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) reported that it will be conducting guardrail and bridge repair operations on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Blandford, West Stockbridge, Montgomery, and Russell.    The work will be conducted at different times and locations in the day and evening on Monday, Jan. 30, and during the day on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Lane closures will be in place during repair operations.    The location and schedule for the work will be as follows:   Blandford     Guardrail repair work will be conducted on I-90 eastbound at mile marker 28.5 in the breakdown lane on Monday, Jan. 30, and

Colonial Power Aggregation Program Available in West Stockbridge

WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — There is electrical service available at a lower rate than National Grid for West Stockbridge residents.   The Town of West Stockbridge has an aggregation agreement through Colonial Power.     Most residents automatically opted into this program. Those who were not can "proactively" enroll rather than wait for the the next sweep mailing.    Anyone from West Stockbridge can proactively join at any time by completing the form on their website or by calling Colonial at 866-485-5858 or Dynegy at 866-220-5696.    Information about the program including the opt-in form can be found here:

Berkshire County Braces for Another Winter Storm

Guess what? More snow   The US National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Wednesday, Jan. 25, for Berkshire County.   The watch is in effect from 11 am to Thursday, Jan. 26 at 4 pm.   Expect heavy mixed precipitation with total snow accumulations of 4 to 9 inches. A light ice accumulation is also possible.    Snow will develop early Wednesday afternoon, becoming moderate to heavy through the evening with rates of .5 to 1 inch per hour. The snow will become a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain Wednesday night before temperatures rise above freezing and precipitation turns to rain.   Wind gusts could blow as high as 35 mph. Adams Community Bank Donates to Local Nonprofits

ADAMS, Mass. — Adams Community Bank (ACB) ended 2022 with a donation of $75,000  to local food pantries, food banks, and fuel assistance programs.   ACB's Senior Vice President of Communications and Community Engagement Maureen Baran presented donations to several Berkshire County nonprofits.   Adams Community Bank began its December donation efforts by presenting BCAC's Fuel Assistance program with a $50,000 donation. This program is part of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a federally funded program to help low-income households with their energy costs. Lee Bank Foundation Distributes Final Grant Funding Round of 2022

Incoming Storm to Bring Snow And Ice to the Berkshires

The National Weather Service has declared a winter weather advisory for Berkshire County beginning Thursday, Jan. 19, from 11 am to Friday, Jan. 20, at 7 pm.   Accuweather predicts that snow should begin around 5 pm on Thursday, and it will continue throughout the day Saturday. Snow is predicted to continue through the weekend into Monday, Jan. 23.   Expect mixed precipitation with a total snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches. Ice accumulation could be up to an inch.   Plan for slippery roads and hazardous conditions.   The state Department of Transportation has issued a winter storm advisory advising motorists to practice caution.   Drivers should allow extra travel

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — 1Berkshire, thanks to a one-time grant award, announced that they are accepting applications for a second year of the Best Foot Forward Facade Improvement Micro-Grant program.   In 2022, this program provided 31 small businesses and organizations across the Berkshires with facade improvement grants of up to $1,000, helping not only to improve individual storefronts, but to improve the aesthetics of our downtown commercial districts in the region.   In 2023, this program returns and is expanded.
