CHP Names Chief Medical Officer for Countywide Healthcare Network

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Andrew Beckwith, M.D., has been named chief medical officer (CMO) at Community Health Programs.     Beckwith, who is an obstetrician-gynecologist at CHP Barrington OB/GYN, will continue seeing patients while overseeing the CHP medical staff throughout Berkshire County.     "Dr. Beckwith has served as the interim CMO at CHP for several months, and his leadership and management skills have confirmed that he is the ideal physician to lead our medical staff," said Rick Gregg, interim CEO at CHP. Bard College Receives State Funds for Long Pond Brook Restoration

Legislature secures $100K for Housatonic Water Works Relief Efforts

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.  — The $3.8 billion economic development bill signed by Gov. Charlie Baker last week includes a $100,000 earmark for Great Barrington customers of a private water company.    Households served by Housatonic Water Works have been experiencing issues with the quality of their water supply, including discolored water due to manganese contamination and rusted pipe ways. CHP's New Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program Tracks a Growing Trend in Advanced Nursing Practice

Berkshire Grown Winter Farmers Market Season Begins

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire Grown kicks off their 2022-2023 indoor Winter Farmers Market season on the weekend before Thanksgiving, in both north and south Berkshire County.

In Great Barrington, the first in the season of six indoor Winter Farmers Markets will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Housy Dome (Housatonic is a village of Great Barrington) on Saturday, Nov. 19, and run through Saturday, April 15, 2023.

The North Adams/Williamstown Winter Farmers Market will take place at Greylock WORKS on Sunday, Nov 20 and Sunday, Dec. 18, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The Housy Dome is located at 1064 Main Street in Housatonic and is included on the Berkshire Regional Transit

Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires Giving Back Guides

GREAT BARRINGTON — The Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires (NPC) is distributing 15,000 Giving Back guides in time for the holiday giving season.   The Giving Back guide contains a directory of Berkshire nonprofits by category, and over 100 nonprofit profiles that detail ways people can help. 14,000 copies were delivered to Berkshire Eagle subscribers in October, while the remaining 1,500 copies are currently being placed in coffee shops, retail outlets, libraries, and other community gathering places.    "We've been producing the Giving Back guide for seven years now," said Liana Toscanini, Executive Director of the Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires.

The Orchestra Now Returns to Bard College at Simon's Rock
