STOCKBRIDGE, Mass.—The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it will be performing overnight and daytime paving and bridge repair operations on I-90 eastbound and westbound in the towns of West Stockbridge, Stockbridge, Montgomery, and Russell. All work is weather dependent and will take place at the following locations and times: West Stockbridge/Stockbridge: Paving operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound from mile marker 0.5 to mile marker 5.5 nightly from Monday night, August 11, through Thursday night, August 14, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., ending Friday morning, August 15. Four friends who have worked together previously decided to buy Main Street eatery a month ago to keep open a local hotspot. "We all knew we all worked together. And this came up, and we just knew it was meant for us to take over, and we knew we could do a great job of it. We knew we could just keep it the neighborhood place," said co-owner Lisa Ake. WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The annual Zucchini Fest returns to the downtown this Saturday from 10 to 10. Depot and Center streets will host booths of vendors, artists and crafters, and a local food court from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will also be a pet parade and "Handcrafted Zuke Games," including a Zucchini Weigh-Off and a zucchini decorating contest. Other daytime activities include a rock climbing wall, poetry corner, and live music. The evening program begins at 4:30 p.m., with the food court remaining open until 9:30.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Westside Legends will host its fourth annual Westside Sweet G Super Soap Box Derby on Saturday, Aug. 9, from noon to 4 p.m. with a rain date of Aug. 10. Check-in for racers starts at 11 a.m. at the corner of Columbus Avenue and Robbins Avenue. The event features a day of activities for the whole family. There will be three race classes: kids from 6-12, kids from 13-17, and an adult class, ages 18 and older. Trophies will be presented in each division. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Healey-Driscoll administration and Massachusetts Technology Collaborative's (MassTech) Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) awarded $31,548,018 to four internet service providers (ISPs) to increase internet access for affordable and public housing residents statewide. Aervivo Inc. was awarded $10,527,014 for 6,402 housing units. This uncludes 30 units in Pittsfield through the Beacon Residential Management Limited Partnership and 30 units in Williamstown through the Williamstown Housing Authority. Kat Sirico BECKET, Mass. — Jacob's Pillow has canceled its 2025 festival following the death of one of its production managers. "We have come to this difficult decision following the tragic accident on our campus on August 1.  ADAMS, Mass. -- Pittsfield's Kellie Harrington and Eric Harrington Sunday were the top two individuals when the Pedal N Plod biathlon returned to North Berkshire. Eric Harrington was the first across the finish line in the Iron Male division, completing the 4.4-mile run and 22-mile bicycling course in 1 hour, 20 minutes, 18.72 seconds. Kellie Harrington won the Iron Female division with a time of 1:35:05.13. Eric Harrington was just more than a minute ahead of runner-up Matt Rabasco (1:21:20.79). — The Berkshire District Attorney's Office reported that there are no criminal charges being brought to the accidental death of the Jacob's Pillow summer employee, 40-year-old Kathryn "Kat" Sirico o Rochester, N.Y. After an investigation it was found that the events leading to Sirico's death were related to a work-place accident. In the early afternoon of Friday Aug. 1, Sirico and a summer intern were moving platforms used for staging for a theater across the Jacob's Pillow property. The platforms were on a dolly.
