The Classical Beat: Tanglewood, Sevenars Offer Culminating Programs During this penultimate week of the Tanglewood Music Festival, the spotlight will focus on a wide range of standard repertoire in both the concerto and symphony genres: Mozart piano concerti, performed by the stellar Knights chamber orchestra, with the masterful soloist Emanuel Ax; Prokofiev's brilliant Violin Concerto No. 1, with the luminous Midori as soloist; and for fans of Tchaikovsky, the lushly lyrical Symphony No. 5.  STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The Stockbridge Summer Arts and Crafts Show, now in its thirty second year, will be held Aug. 17 and 18 on the grounds of the Town Offices and Bidwell Park, 50 Main Street. The event is open free to the public. Over 85 jury-selected artists and crafters will display their work ranging from paintings to ceramics, firberware to jewelry, sculpture to photography. Hours are Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Among the returning artisans will be Su Chi Pottery of Pittsford, VT.  GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Triplex Cinema announced a special screening on Saturday, Aug. 17, of "Dory Previn: On My Way to Where," which celebrates the life of the late Berkshires singer/songwriter, followed by a talkback with co-director Julia Greenberg, and animator Emily Hubley. The film, which recently premiered at the SXSW Film and TV Festival, uses archival footage together with animation to illustrate the complicated and creative life and work of Dory Previn. West Stockbridge will be filled with zucchini on Saturday so don't leave your car unlocked. WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Zucchini, courgette, summer squash — whatever you call it. West Stockbridge will be full of the vegetable (or fruit) on Saturday.
Volunteers are busy preparing homemade booths, decorations, games, and more for the annual Zucchini Festival from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The first was held in 2003, ran for a decade, and then went on hiatus until it was brought back last year.
Sponsored by the West Stockbridge Cultural Council, the festival has drawn thousands to the town's center over the years and is a testament to its tight-knit community. Chris

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that crews will be conducting nighttime milling, guardrail, and bridge work at various locations on I-90 eastbound and westbound during the week of Monday, Aug. 12, through Friday, Aug. 16. Lane closures will be in place during the construction operations, and traffic will be able to travel through the work zones. The schedule for the work and lane closures is as follows: Otis/Blandford Milling operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound from mile marker 22.0 to 27.0 from Monday night, Aug. 12, through Thursday night, Aug. 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the next morning.
